Biography

Chiaka is the GROUP LEAD, DIGITAL AND INNOVATION SUPPORT GROUP, where she is steering the digital transformation of FIRS to a digitized organization, in-line with current trends and taxation of the digital economy. Prior to her appointment as the Group Lead, Digital and Innovation Support Group, She was the Pioneer Director, Change Management Department, where she set the standards for management and coordination of organizational changes by applying a structured Change Management process, and driving adoption of enterprise transformation activities, aimed at guaranteeing successful completion and value realization.

 

Chiaka has held Director positions in different directorates in FIRS: first as – Director of Modernisation and later Programme Management Office, with the overall responsibility of delivering the modernization agenda projects aimed at modernising FIRS into a modern, efficient and effective tax administration agency; as well as Director/ States Coordinator for Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu States where she had the overall responsibility of delivering FIRS’ targets in the three states, before her secondment to the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in May 2017 to May 2019 as a Technical Advisor to the Honourable Minister.

She provided support to the Honourable Minister in the Modernisation of Industrial Property (IP) Registries, aimed at transforming the IP Registries into Effective and Efficient Modern IP Offices consistent with good practices across the globe, aligned to the Ease of Doing Business Policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria particularly with respect to transparency and the acceleration of the approval processes. On her return to FIRS in June 2019, she was deployed to the Compliance Research and Intelligence Department as the Director.

 

She has over 30 years’ experience, cutting across sectors and has been in Senior / Executive Management positions for nearly 20 years. Chiaka holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Political Science and Public Administration from University of Maiduguri, Nigeria; an MBA from University of Hull, United Kingdom; a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Development from London Guildhall University, United Kingdom; and an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.

 

Chiaka is dedicated to continuous process reengineering and improvement in the face of rapidly evolving and changing markets. Extremely results-orientated and proactive in addressing and resolving problems. She is an enthusiastic team player with a strong work ethic and advanced complex problem solving skills, willingly take on added responsibility to meet tight deadlines. Excels at cutting costs and streamlining operations; recruiting and talent acquisition, action-orientated with strong ability to communicate effectively with technology, executive, and business audiences. 

Tech-savvy Project Manager versed in all aspects of project management from inception to completion, managing all levels of multiple projects including budgeting and administration.

 

Chiaka was awarded a “Corporate Woman of Excellence in Information Technology” in recognition of her achievements in the implementation of complex Information and Communication Technology related Projects and Governance.
