Amina K. Ado

Amina Kurawa Ado has over 26 years’ experience working in banking, oil and gas exploration and production and public service.

Amina Kurawa Ado began her career with Citibank Nigeria, a subsidiary of American bank Citibank Inc, in 1992 as a Youth Corp member, and worked in various departments, in Kano and Lagos, including Operations, Internal Control and Financial Control. She left in 2002 to further her studies and subsequently joined TotalEnergies, the Nigerian subsidiary of the French oil and gas company. Amina spent over a decade in TotalEnergies and was involved in development of major oil and gas projects such as Ofon Phase II, Usan and Egina.

She was appointed in 2017, by President Muhammadu Buhari, as Senior Special Assistant to the President on oil and gas policy in the office of the Chief of Staff to the President. She was part of the team that drafted the Petroleum Industry Act, contributed to the amendment of the Deep Offshore Act 1993 and the drafting of the Finance Act 2019.

Before her appointment as a Coordinating Director, she was the Director, Emerging & Special Tax Department, at the Federal Inland Revenue Service. She is a member of the United Nations Sub-Committee on Wealth & Solidarity Taxes, and member Advisory Group of Nigeria Tax Research Network.

She has a multidisciplinary background, with a first degree in Electrical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, an LLB from University of London, a Postgraduate Certificate in Data Science & Business Analytics from University of Texas at Austin, an MBA from Bayero University, an MSc in Finance from Lancaster University, an MSc in Strategic Planning from Herriot Watt University and an MA in Development Studies from University of Sussex. She is a fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. She is also a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and Society of Petroleum Engineers.
