Objective
To build and sustain the human capital needs of FIRS which will enable integration and delivering of the FIRS corporate objective, both in short and long term driven by a technologically equipped system.
To align HR Strategies and practices with FIRS business strategies on a continual basis.
Main Role of HR
To deliver quality services internally so that FIRS can have “high performing and aligned employees”. These roles should be able to deliver wider business objective of building relationship/coalitions with line managers and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities

To build and sustain the human capital needs of FIRS which will enable integration and delivering of the corporate objectives of FIRS both in the short and long term basis.

To develop a highly skilled and motivated work force.

To effectively manage staff records, recruitment, promotion, job evaluation, welfare issues, and payroll administration.

To address staff discipline and grievances issues fairly and efficiently in a timely manner.

To develop, improve and communicate HR policies processes and also monitor adherence in tandem with Servicom Charter.

Build effective succession plans for the growth and stability of FIRS.

To liaise with relevant Departments in staff development and capacity building.

To gradually and systematically build employee capacity that will compliment the ageing workforce via recruitment, head hunting, transfer and secondment.

To properly place staff based on assessment programme that will enable management to identify skills/competency possessed by such officers and carryout organizational design that would determine the required manning levels.

To implement the Integrated HR SAP Programme this would make its processes more efficient.
What HR is doing
Employment
We have appropriate manning level and staff placements required for optimal performance at the various job levels for the attainment of FIRS corporate targets.
Performance
As a support service, we encourage high performance that leaves us with a well motivated workforce that is technologically driven.
Response to staff request
We respond to staff requests within an acceptable period of time.
Promotion
We carryout all staff promotions as at when due.
Career Progression
A systematic career progression and succession plan are in place that ensures a revitalize workforce in term of size, fit, remuneration, skills in line with global best practices.
Discipline
We have in place a procedure that efficiently addresses disciplinary issues such that instills confidence in the system and ensures that our core values are constantly put in focus to drive staff behaviour. In addition, grounds for appeals are provided to address grievances arising from staff and other stake holders.
Welfare
We ensure that staff entitlements are processed and paid as at when due. In addition, adequate welfare schemes are in place that cater for staff needs and motivates staff by rewarding excellence.
Recruitment
We have put in place a systematic recruitment mechanism where available job vacancies are advertised both internally and externally so that a pool of applicants seeking jobs are screened, interviewed with a view of employing the best in an equal opportunity environment.

General Requirements
Any candidate applying for a job at FIRS must:-
a) Be a Nigerian citizen by birth or descent
b) Be certified by a recognized Medical Doctor as physically and mentally fit for appointment in the Service
c) Be of good character and must not have been found guilty of any criminal offence
d) Be of high integrity and moral rectitude.
e) Present a certificate of State of Origin signed by the Chairman/Secretary of their Local Government. Certificates endorsed by Liaison offices are unacceptable.
